LATE AUTUMN SNOW TAOS by artist Patricia Catlett; oil on canvas

The Cathedral Gallery

Established in 1974 at the suggestion of Cathedral Dean John Haverland, the Cathedral Gallery has been an active part of the downtown Albuquerque art scene ever since.

HISTORY OF THE GALLERY

The first chair of the Gallery Guild was Gale Waddell, a prominent New Mexico artist, who envisioned each Gallery show as having an overarching theme that would be of interest and importance to the congregation and the community.

This philosophy has been carried to the current day.

Over the decades, the Gallery has hosted such different groups and media as watercolor, fabric arts, sculpture, photography, pastel, oil, and many other artistic disciplines.

Each non-juried show runs for three months and in the past has had themes like Navajo weaving, quilts, “Creatures Great and Small” (portraits of people and animals), Santeros, Icons, and a winter show that features the Holiday Shoppe with a selection of toys, ornaments, miniatures, and other gift ideas.
